SPECIAL MATINEE - OLD TIME JAMBOREE BY THE YOUNG FOR THE YOUNG AT HEART
Strictly Strings with Rodney Sutton
Harvest House Performing Arts Venue, Boone
2:30PM, Tuesday, July 26, 2016
Boone's very popular Strictly Strings is much in demand around the high country. These four young musicians learned to play their instruments with master old time musician Cecil Gurganus in the Junior Appalachian Musicians program and they have gone on to great things, thanks to both their enthusiasm and Cecil's dedication and inspiration.
Their energy and precision is evident to all, especially dancers. Rodney Sutton, founder of the Green Grass Cloggers and host for Mountain Home Music, assures us that he truly loves to dance with this group.
They did a Saturday show last fall with all the Green Grass Cloggers and absolutely brought the house down. This matinee will also feature Rodney with his free style clogging and interesting commentary on the history of the dance as it evolved from Irish and Scottish styles. Charming and full of collective energy, the members of the band are sisters Anissa and Kathleen Burnett, Caleb Coatney, Willow Dillon and their mentor, Cecil Gurganus.
All members are multi instrumentalists and they effortlessly swap and play all instruments throughout their shows. Over the last few years they have increased their repertoire, adding singing in three part harmony as well as original tunes that they have composed.
Audiences will love their youthful exuberance, friendly stage presence and toe tapping music.
